Bibliography

The History and Education Committee has been compiling a list of books covering development and architecture in the Gold Coast since its beginnings in the late 19th Century. We would like this bibliography to be a living document that is updated on the GCNA web site as information about relevant publications comes to our attention.

Some of these books are out-of-print and available only through specialized libraries. Google Books contains a vast catalog of listings and links to information about locations where copies of specific books may be purchased, borrowed or read-on-site. For some books published before 1923, a scanned copy of the book is available online at Google Books at no charge or may be ordered from a print-on-demand seller for a modest sum. Please go to http://books.google.com/bkshp?hl=en&ei=Bn1DU-yGKYiRrQHr54GQDQ&ved=0CA8QqS4oDQ for more information.

If you would like to browse in the neighborhood, Barnes & Noble at 1130 N State Street has a section devoted to books about Chicago, including the Gold Coast.
