About this event
Learn the history of dance icon Ruth Page and the Ruth Page Center she created in the Gold Coast. “Ruth Page: The Woman & Her Legacy” is a collaboration created by Gold Coast Neighbors Association’s History & Education Committee and the Ruth Page Center to explore the life and career of the woman who achieved fame as a prima ballerina, choreographer, and instructor. Although she was a Chicago star, she performed at significant events, both national and international.
Three knowledgeable guides—Scottie Perry, a popular Chicago History Museum docent and GCNA member, will discuss the history of Ruth Page, the woman. Matthew La Rose, a successful Gold Coast Realtor and GCNA board member, will share the history and architecture of the Ruth Page Center building. Caroline Shadle, dance historian and Ruth Page alumni, will discuss the history of the Ruth Page organization.
